Unique, hand-knit accessories made from natural materials sustainably sourced, thoughtfully designed, and fairly made.
Karakoram Accessories is an independent accessories brand started by Caroline and Christian Brockmeyer in Cologne, Germany in 2005. Karakoram means “black mountain” and comes from the Himalayan range of the same name.
The collection is made from natural materials such as alpaca, cashmere, mohair, and wool carefully chosen from select suppliers. The resulting yarns produce soft, warm, and durable accessories. Baby alpaca has been chosen as the main yarn for the collection as its one of the most sustainable wool materials and has one of the smallest impacts on the environment.
The accessories are also hand-knit in cooperation with a social project supporting women in Bosnia. The hats, gloves, and scarves are not only sustainable and made fairly, but they also come in a wide array of colors that are perfect for mix and matching to complete any winter outfit.
Why I chose it
While shopping in Paris last winter, a knit beanie in an amazing shade of purple caught my eye. Not only did I have to have the hat, I also wanted to know more about the brand. After learning more about Karakoram’s story and mission, I’m very excited to introduce our clients to the collection.
Hand-Knit Alpaca Blend Hat (the style of the hat I discovered in Paris), Fuzzy Hand-Knit Hat, Fuzzy Hand-Knit Snood
